Eating vs Smoking:

There are many differences between smoking and eating, or ingesting cannabinoids. The appeal of cannabis infused edibles may lie behind the unlimited, tastier options compared to traditional smoking. It is arguable that edibles are a far healthier alternative to smoking cannabis, due to the negative health effects associated with smoke inhalation.

Each product contains a specified quantity of medical marijuana which is digested in the stomach, or in the mouth, depending.

Edibles are absorbed through the digestive system and may take anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours to fully kick in, compared to the almost instantaneous absorption of cannabinoids through the bloodstream when smoking.

The effects associated with ingesting cannabis are drastically different and longer lasting compared to the effects of smoking cannabis. More often, eating, or ingesting cannabinoids is associated with a body-focused, sedating couch-lock type of high.

Melatonin and CBD oil both promote sleep, but work in different ways to do so.

Unlike regular vitamins and supplements, when you take melatonin it is treated by the body as if it were created internally. Instead of breaking it down and converting it into something usable, your body is able to metabolize melatonin immediately, without further processing. The same is true for CBD oil.

Just how cannabidiol (CBD) is able to yield benefits by replicating your body’s own endocannabinoids, melatonin supplements do the same to help regulate your circadian rhythm, or natural sleep-wake cycle.

During normal waking hours, there is very little melatonin circulating in your body. Instead, there are other hormones like cortisol at work, which keep you alert and awake.
